The seeding for the playoff is as follows:
#1 Lee
#2 Canastota
#3 Cazenovia
#4 Camden
There were some texts flying around last night but I wanted to look at everything in detail without going from memory on the schedule. Here is an explanation:
To start there are three approved formats for tournament play. Double elimination, modified double elimination (No if game) and pool play. For the 8-10 we used pool play which is the same a round robin with one pool.
Seeding is first based on record in pool. If records are tied (Lee 4-1 and Canastota 4-1), first tie breaker is head to head and in our case Lee beat Canastota during pool play making Lee #1 and Canastota #2
The next best record is shared by three teams at 2-3. One of those teams (Caz, Chitt or Camden) did not beat both teams they were tied with record wise head to head, then the next tie breaker is runs allowed ratio for all games played. Caz gave up the least runs of the 3 so they advance to the #3 seed.
Now we have we have the top three seeds assigned and we need to determine the last seed. Camden and Chittenango have the same record, therefore, we need to go to the first tie breaker which is head to head. Camden beat Chittenango head to head therefore they advance as the #4 seed.
Camden will play in Lee on Friday and Cazenovia will play in Canastota on Friday.
